Is the BraveHeart Babysitting Course Right for Your Child?

The BraveHeart Babysitting Course is designed for families in Nova Scotia who want practical, age-appropriate training for youth who are starting to babysit. It focuses on real babysitting skills, confidence, and responsibility without overwhelming kids or parents.

  • This course is a great fit for youth ages 11–15, when many children are ready to begin babysitting. We require participants to be at least 11 years old so they are developmentally ready to understand responsibility and follow instructions.

Your child will learn how to care for babies, toddlers, and young children, with a focus on safe behaviour, communication, routines, and knowing what to do when something does not feel right. The goal is readiness, not pressure.

  • If you want your child to feel confident when babysitting or spending time home alone, this course gives them a strong foundation.

We focus on everyday skills like home safety, setting rules and routines, clear communication, and knowing when to ask for help. Your child builds confidence through practice and guidance so they approach babysitting with care and maturity.

  • This course is also a great option for schools, community groups, and youth organizations that want to offer meaningful, practical training.

Participants learn through hands-on activities that build responsibility, awareness, and confidence. Each successful participant receives a certificate of completion, making this a valuable addition to youth programming across Nova Scotia.

Why Nova ScotiaN Parents Choose BraveHeart

  • Our instructors are experienced, supportive, and skilled at working with young people. They know how to teach in a way that feels clear, encouraging, and age-appropriate.

Your child learns in a positive environment where questions are welcome and confidence is built through practice. The goal is understanding, not pressure, so skills actually stick.

  • This is not a generic program. The BraveHeart Babysitting Course is thoughtfully designed to focus on real babysitting situations, everyday responsibility, and age-appropriate skills.

The course blends practical child care basics with communication, leadership, and decision-making. Everything is taught in a way that respects where your child is now and helps them grow.

  • We treat every participant as capable and learning. Our approach emphasizes trust, clear communication, and responsibility in everyday situations.

Your child leaves feeling respected, supported, and more confident in their ability to care for younger children. Not because they memorized information, but because they practiced skills that make sense.

  • The BraveHeart Babysitting Course includes a basic, age-appropriate introduction to first aid awareness, focused on everyday situations a babysitter might realistically encounter.

This training is designed to help youth stay calm, recognize common issues, and know when to get help. It is not advanced medical training and it is not overwhelming.

    Your child will learn:

  • No. The BraveHeart Babysitting Course is not a first aid certification course.
