Learn More About First Responder Recertification

  • Per Canadian Red Cross and provincial standards, if your certification is expired by even one day, you are no longer eligible for the 20-hour recertification. You will be required to complete the full initial 40-hour First Responder course to regain your credentials.

  • Yes. This course provides the clinical First Responder (FR) certificate required by EHS Nova Scotia. Once you complete the course, you (or your department's MFR Coordinator) can submit your certificate to EHS to renew or issue your Medical First Responder (MFR) registration number.

  • Yes. In Nova Scotia, the First Responder level meets and exceeds the OHS "Advanced" First Aid standards required for high-risk, large-scale industrial sites and remote work environments.

  • Yes. Professional-level Basic Life Support (BLS)—including high-performance CPR, AED use, and oxygen administration—is fully integrated into the curriculum and the final certification.

  • Please bring your current (unexpired) First Responder certificate, comfortable clothing suitable for floor-based scenarios, and any personal clinical gear (like a pocket mask) you wish to practice with. We provide all high-fidelity training equipment.

  • Training takes place at our Kentville HQ: 28 Aberdeen Street, Suite 3, Kentville, NS. There is ample, free parking available directly on-site for all participants.
